Be Vigilant For The Signs Of Gum Infection

Teenagers may be burdened by gum disease at an early age. And gum disease progresses in stages and as you age. You should be vigilant if your gums bleed when you floss or brush your teeth. Bleeding gums indicates the early stage of gum disease. Chances are you are already have the mildest from of gum infection called gingivitis. Red, swelling and tender gums are the other warning signs of gum disease. If plaque from teeth and gums isn't removed by good daily dental care, over time it will harden into a crust called calculus or tartar. Gum tissue are gradually destroyed by tartar forming on the surface of the teeth, thus, causing gums to bleed and pull away from the teeth. Untreated early gum disease advances to a more serious gum disease called periodontitis.
